Meet Lucy
What Lucy is, the three ways she works with Bizinly, and how permissions, the audit trail and privacy work.
Lucy is Bizinly's AI engine — built into every screen, and, once you connect your own Lucy (or Claude, ChatGPT, or another compatible assistant), able to act on your own data directly. She is the same Lucy behind justlucy.ai, the standalone AI platform — see Lucy, the product below.
Three ways to work with Lucy
1. The Lucy panel, built into every screen
A docked assistant with a Help tab (quick-topic chips and free chat — "how do I record a partial payment?", "find order 1123") and a Create tab that opens the document-drafting wizard. When the Sales pipeline or the Scheduler module is on, a third Booking tab lets you book a visit or a call without leaving the panel.
This built-in Lucy answers questions, searches your data, and helps you fill in a form — she never edits, issues, sends or deletes anything on her own; you always review and press the button yourself. See Lucy, your in-app assistant.
2. Drafting a document with Lucy
The same panel (and a Draft with Lucy button on the Quotes, Orders, Proformas and Invoices lists) opens a short wizard: pick the document type and the customer, describe the work in a sentence, and Lucy drafts the lines. You review the total before anything is created — the document then opens exactly like one built by hand, ready to edit, issue, e-mail or print. 3. Connect your own Lucy, Claude or ChatGPT
A separate, optional step: create an API key (or sign in through a one-click connector for Claude and ChatGPT) under Admin → MCP & connections, and Lucy — or another assistant you connect the same way — can then search, create and update your Bizinly data directly from its own chat: draft an invoice, issue it, e-mail it, and chase a late payment, all from one sentence, without switching over to Bizinly first.
This is a materially more powerful step than the built-in panel: once connected, the assistant is working with your real data, exactly as if you had clicked through the screens yourself. See Connect Bizinly to your own Lucy and the full reference of what Lucy can do in your workspace.
What Lucy can and can't do
Lucy can answer "how do I…" questions with the exact buttons and screens to use, search across your documents, customers, contacts and products, and draft a document's lines from a sentence you review before creating it. Once you connect your own Lucy or another assistant, she can also create, update and issue documents, record payments, draft a reminder, book an appointment, and export or import your customers and products — the full list is in What Lucy can do in your workspace.
She does not give tax or legal advice, and the built-in panel alone never edits, issues, sends or deletes anything — that only happens once you connect your own assistant and it calls a tool, or you press Create on a drafted document yourself. When she doesn't know something, she says so rather than guessing.
Permissions and the audit trail
Lucy never has powers of her own — she always acts as somebody. Inside the app, she only ever sees what your own sign-in already lets you see. Connected over your own Lucy, Claude or ChatGPT, every action she takes runs as whichever person created the API key (or completed the connector sign-in), with exactly that person's own permissions — nothing more. A key belonging to someone with no role, or missing the one permission a specific action needs, gets a plain refusal rather than a partial result.
Every write — whoever or whatever triggered it — goes through the same path a click on a button would: a permission check, validation, the write itself, and an entry in your workspace's own activity log. Nothing Lucy does is invisible or unattributed.
Privacy — what data goes where
From the in-app panel: your question, a short summary of whatever document or customer you're currently looking at, and a handful of matching results from your own workspace's documents, customers, contacts and products are sent to your workspace's connected Lucy so she can answer. Nothing is created, changed, or shared anywhere else from this surface.
From a connected Lucy, Claude or ChatGPT: the assistant calls your Bizinly workspace directly, using the API key you created. It only ever sees what a specific tool call returns — one customer's profile, one document's detail, a search result — never your whole database, and any write it makes is scoped to that key's own permissions and lands in your activity log like anything else.
Lucy, the product
Lucy — the same assistant behind both of the above — is also a full AI platform in her own right, at justlucy.ai: chat across multiple AI providers, memory that carries context between conversations, connectors to your other tools, and automated workflows, self-hosted under your own keys. Connecting your own Lucy account to Bizinly is what brings that assistant — with its own memory and the tools you've given it — into your Bizinly workspace.
