Working on a task
The task side panel and task page — people, dates, comments with @mentions, files and the activity log.
Click a task anywhere — a board card, a row in a list, My tasks, a sales order's Tasks panel — and it opens in a side panel next to what you were looking at. Everything about the task is there, and fields save as soon as you leave them. Open full page opens the same task on its own page (that's where notifications take you too). Press Esc or click outside to close the panel.
What's on a task
- Spent / Estimate / Due at the top, then the project (or the sales order) the task belongs to.
- Status — pick any of your company's statuses, or use Move to … (the next column on the board) and Mark done.
- Title, type (task, bug or idea), priority (none to very high) and labels.
- Assignees — one or more people; on a project task they must be members of the project. The field shows their avatars; hover for the names.
- Due date, estimate (hours) and description.
- Checklist, Subtasks and Links — see Checklists, subtasks, labels and links.
- Time — the time logged on the task, + Add time, and the timer's Start button; see Time tracking and the timer.
- Comments and Files.
- Activity, collapsed at the bottom.
A task's number is #3 inside its project, or T-00003 for a task without a project.
Comments and @mentions
Write in the task's Comments to talk about the work. New comments show up for everyone who has the task open within about a second — no reload. Type @ to mention a teammate who can see the task: the name is highlighted and they get a notification with a link straight to the task. Files can be attached to a comment, or added under Files.
The task's assignees, its author and the project's managers hear about new comments. Comments stay on the task — they don't appear in the Messages inbox. More in Comments and @mentions.
Activity
Activity is the task's history, newest first: who created it, changed the title, type, priority, due date, estimate or description, moved it to another status, assigned or unassigned someone, ticked a checklist item, added a subtask, logged time, added a label or a link — "Sarah · moved to In review · 5 min ago". It's written automatically and can't be edited; it shows 20 entries at a time with Show more.
Who can see and change a task
- A project task: the project's members and its creator see it; members work on it while the project is open (not completed, cancelled or archived). People your admin allows to manage all projects see and change every project.
- A task without a project (on a sales order): its creator, its assignees, and anyone who may view that order.
If you can see a task but not change it — say its project is completed — the panel opens read-only.
